The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism plans to introduce full-body scanners at airports across Japan in October in preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The ministry of Japan has stated the first airports to get the scanners will be Narita, Haneda and Kansai airports . They will be installed at all international airports by 2020.
Scanners, which have already become commonplace at airports in many other countries, allow security personnel to see any suspicious weapons or other items underneath passengers’ clothing.
