China's first womb transplant
In China’s first successful womb transplant, a mother donated her uterus to her 22-year-old daughter in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province. The Xijing Hospital affiliated to the Fourth Military Medical University revealed that the transplanted organ had been accepted by the recipient and she was recovering well. After the surgery, doctors can now transfer healthy embryos into the new womb allowing the recipient to carry her own biological child.
