Thousands of Iraqis protest against Turkey's troop deployment
At least 2,000 protesters on Saturday rallied in the Iraqi capital, demanding an immediate withdrawal of Turkish troops from the country. Shiite militia members burnt the Turkish flag and chanted against what they called "Turkish occupation". On Friday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan repeated that Turkey would not pull out troops already stationed in Iraq and that the training process "in agreement" with Iraq would continue.
