Relations between Turkey and Israel turned sour after Mavi Marmara incident

The relationship between Turkey and Israel soured following a deadly 2010 raid on a Turkish ship, the Mavi Marmara. The Mavi Marmara was part of a fleet heading to the Palestinian enclave of the Gaza Strip, demanding that Israel lift its blockade in the area. Israeli troops stormed the fleet's largest ship, the Mavi Marmara, in international waters on May 31, 2010, and 10 Turkish nationals were killed.
